Turkey and Burundi partnered in a few projects, including the in-demand exportation of coffee. The Turkish Government continues to offer educational assistance to Burundian students through the Turkiye Scholarship. The student program has been ongoing for years which improves the cooperation between the two countries. The Embassy of Burundi in Ankara opened in June 2014. Four years later, the Turkish Embassy in Bujumbura opened its services to the public.
Burundians have to apply for visa to enter Turkish borders. Burundi travelers who have an ordinary, service, and special passport must comply with the e-Visa requirements.
Note: Burundians holding a diplomatic passport are visa-free within 90 days of travel.

- Burundi citizens must have a residence permit to the UK, Ireland, or the USA; or
- Burundi citizens should be a member of Schengen area
These conditions will determine their eligibility to get a Turkish e-Visa. Burundians can take advantage of the electronic visa process to save effort and time. They can choose the processing timeframe depending on the urgency of the application. The system grants Burundi citizens a single entry for 30 days of travel in Turkey.
Burundians Qualification For Turkish E-visa
Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs initiates the enhancement of visa application by introducing a new electronic system. It includes the list of nationalities that can utilize the portal if they are traveling to Turkey. It aims at a straightforward process that does not require foreigners to visit an Honorary Consulate. It is known for quicker turnaround time, unlike the long process of visa in an embassy. It brings convenience to travelers who do not have time or unable to make appointments. Burundi citizens can apply for e-Visa 30 min or 1 hour before their planned trip.
In the meantime, Burundian travelers can take advantage of the online application for business and tourism purposes. Turkey E-Visa is not yet available for foreigners aiming to get a permanent residency, educational permit, or employment permit. Immigration still recommends aspiring immigrants, students, and employees to visit the nearest Turkish Embassy.
Burundi citizens are under the bracket of Turkey's conditional e-Visa. They can proceed with the online application if they have been a member of the Schengen Area or has a resident permit to these countries:

- United States of America
- Ireland
Note: E-Visas and e-Permits issued from these countries are not acceptable.
During the online registration, they have to provide proof (Schengen member identification or residency permit to the countries mentioned above)

Immigration would like to ensure that all travelers coming into Turkish borders have sufficient allowance for their trip. Burundi citizens have to present the following requirements once they arrive in Turkey:
- Proof of financial capacity (50USD per day)
- Travel insurance
- Hotel Reservation
- Yellow Fever Vaccine Certificate (Burundi passengers age one and above
The requirements are not necessary during the online application. Therefore, Burundi travelers must present all the documents upon arrival at the airport.
Burundians have to fill out the form electronically and must ensure the accuracy of the declared information. Passport and supporting documents should mirror the details disclosed during the online application. If Burundian travelers fail to meet the requirements above, the Turkish E-Visa may be invalid.
Burundians must not overstay their visa. If a Burundi traveler stays more than the days allowed in their permit, they may end up paying fines and penalties. However, Burundians are eligible to request for Turkey visa extension. They can proceed to the nearest Police Station, where they appeal for a temporary resident visa. Incoming international passengers must show a negative SARS‑COV‑2 PCR Test. The age bracket for this requirement is six years old and above. The certificate must not exceed 72 hours before departure. Otherwise, passengers may not be able to onboard. Turkish Government expects a hundred percent compliance from all airport staff, airline crew, and travelers. Immigration can decline the entry of the passenger who will fail to provide PCR test results.
